Search "KAYOU My Little Pony series 2" and you'll land on three different-looking products depending on which listing you click. One's a booster box with a rainbow logo. Another says "Moon Edition Series 3." A third calls itself "Booster Pack 02" and resembles neither. If you've assumed these are sequential releases in one product line, that's a reasonable conclusion to draw, and it's the wrong one.

KAYOU's My Little Pony catalogue, all released under one Hasbro licence, splits into two unrelated families of product. One is a genuine trading card game with starter decks and booster sets. The other is a collectible-only foil card line that doesn't play at all, and that line splits again into four independently numbered editions. None of them are "series 2 and 3" of each other.

One licence, several confusingly named lines

Start with the fact that untangles most of the confusion: KAYOU makes two different kinds of My Little Pony product, not one. Both sit under the same Hasbro licence, use KAYOU's usual foil-forward card stock, and ship as sealed product, which is exactly why they look interchangeable on a search results page.

Here's where the "series 2" confusion actually starts. Retailers tag Fantasy Wonderland "Series 1" and DISCORD!!! "Series 2", but only within the playable game. Search "kayou my little pony series 2" and you'll just as easily surface "Friendship Eternal Rainbow Edition Series 2," a completely unrelated product from a different family that simply happens to share the word "series." They're not sequential releases of the same thing; they're parallel lines that both happen to count upward.

The playable line: Fantasy Wonderland, DISCORD!!! and Nightmare Night

If you actually want to play, building around a starter deck and opening boosters for cards with a job beyond looking good in a binder, this is the line to search for, not Friendship Eternal. The three booster sets share one rulebook and play together.

Fantasy Wonderland is Booster Pack 01, the set that launched the game in English. A box runs 20 packs of 5 cards, drawn from a 191-card set across 13 rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Silver Rare (SR), Sapphire Rare (SPR), Emerald Rare (ER), Gold Rare (GR), Colorful Rare (CR) and Ruby Rare (RR), plus a Shining (※) parallel of each of the top five. DISCORD!!! is Booster Pack 02. It reached US shops on 7 August 2026 and has the same shape as Fantasy Wonderland: 20 packs of 5 cards, 191 card types, 13 tiers. It comes in NA and SEA English editions, draws its scenes from Season 2 episodes, and makes Discord deck-buildable for the first time; he is also hidden in the background of every Ruby Rare. Nightmare Night is Booster Pack 03: 20 packs of 5 cards, 190 card types across the same 13 tiers. It's built on six original four-stage stories Hasbro wrote for the cards, one per Mane Six, brings Nightmare Moon, Princess Luna, Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra into the card pool, and adds Treat tokens to the rules. The English edition reaches North American shops on 25 September 2026 and Australia on 2 October 2026. Friendships Begin starter decks

A booster box contains no rules and no ready-to-play deck, so boosters aren't the way into the game. A Friendships Begin starter deck is. There are six, one for each of the Mane Six, and each is a complete 70-card deck: a 50-card Main Deck, a 15-card Scene Deck, the character's Ruby Rare Main Character card and 4 Story Cards, sealed with 3 booster packs of 5 cards and a paper playmat that has the full rules printed on the reverse. Any two different character decks make a two-player game. Pick the pony you like, such as the Twilight Sparkle starter deck, then add booster sets to it; our starter deck comparison walks through all six. This is the only line in KAYOU's MLP catalogue we'd honestly call a trading card game. The MLP TCG hub carries the booster boxes and all six character starter decks with live availability.

The collectible editions: Friendship Eternal cards

Friendship Eternal is the umbrella name for KAYOU's non-playable My Little Pony foil cards: no decks, no rules, just sealed packs and character art to pull. It's the collectible family in our range, split into four editions, each numbered independently:

• Rainbow Edition: Series 1 and 2
• Moon Edition: Series 1 to 5
• Fun Moments: Series 1 to 3
• Star Edition: Series 1

Moon Edition reaching Series 5 doesn't put it "ahead" of Rainbow Edition's Series 2, and neither follows on from Fantasy Wonderland. They're parallel lines that happen to share the word "series." Several of these boxes also come in two English releases, the NA edition and the SEA edition, and the two aren't always packed the same way.

Rainbow Edition. KAYOU's published ladder for Rainbow Edition Series 2 (English NA edition, released January 2026) runs 170 card types across 11 rarity tiers, with XR and USR as the chase tiers, in a box of 20 packs of 5 foil cards. The Rainbow Edition booster box we stock is the SEA edition: 20 foil packs of 5 cards, 100 cards in total, with every pack foil.

Moon Edition. Moon Edition is the premium, foil-heavy end of Friendship Eternal. Moon Edition Series 3 in the NA edition is a big box: 24 packs, 8 cards per pack, a 290-card set and 10 rarity tiers. At least one Australian retail listing we've seen shows that edition as a 12-pack display instead, so check the pack count on the actual listing before you buy. The Moon boxes we carry are SEA editions of 10 foil packs each: Moon Edition 1, whose English print adds three horizontal UR cards the Chinese print doesn't carry, Moon Edition 3, and Moon Edition 5, the newest wave. Moon Edition 3 is the only one KAYOU has published a spec sheet for: five cards a pack from a 189-card checklist across ten tiers, which is the checklist of NA Series 2, not NA Series 3. Fun Moments. Fun Moments has reached Series 3. Fun Moments 3 in the NA edition is 20 packs of 7 cards, 140 cards a box, drawn from a 148-card checklist across nine rarity tiers: N, ◇N, R, SR, SSR, UR, UGR, CR and ◇CR. The SEA edition of Fun Moments 3 is the same set packed as a 30-pack box. KAYOU's promotional material for the wave leads with stained-glass character art alongside the everyday scenes the edition is named for.

Star Edition. Star Edition is still on Series 1, and it sits above Moon Edition for foil and lamination treatment. Star Edition 1 is 16 packs of 3 premium cards, themed on the Swan Pony ballet, with BP art photo cards, OR poster cards, AR gilded cards and USR ballet cards.

Two things stand out. "Playable?" splits cleanly along family lines: every Friendship Eternal row is No, every game row is Yes. And even within Friendship Eternal, box shapes aren't consistent. Star Edition packs 3 premium cards, SEA Moon Edition 3 packs 5, Fun Moments 3 NA packs 7 and Moon Edition Series 3 NA packs 8, so a bigger series number tells you nothing about what's in the box.

"Forever Friendship" vs "Friendship Eternal": same cards?

If you've searched "forever friendship kayou" instead of "friendship eternal," you're not alone. It's a common variant, and search engines are generous enough to serve up Friendship Eternal results for it anyway. To be precise, though: "Forever Friendship" isn't an official KAYOU product name on any box, pack, or listing we've seen. The real line name is Friendship Eternal, which is worth using if you want accurate search results rather than whatever a mistitled listing happens to be selling. Treat "Forever Friendship" as a mishearing of Friendship Eternal, not a separate product to go chasing.

Which should you collect in Australia?

Depends what you're actually after.

Yes, in the sense that "Forever Friendship" isn't a real, separate KAYOU product. It's a common mislabel or mishearing of Friendship Eternal, KAYOU's actual collectible My Little Pony foil card line. We haven't seen "Forever Friendship" used as an official name on any KAYOU box or pack. If a listing uses that phrase, it's almost certainly describing Friendship Eternal cards.

Is KAYOU My Little Pony a trading card game or collectible cards?

Both exist, and they're different products under the same Hasbro licence. Fantasy Wonderland, DISCORD!!! and Nightmare Night, together with the Friendships Begin starter decks, make up KAYOU's playable My Little Pony Trading Card Game.
