What's in the box

Twenty sealed foil booster packs of 5 cards each, 100 cards in total, from Nightmare Night, Series 3 of the English My Little Pony Trading Card Game. The set has 190 cards to collect across 13 rarities, with the Shining Colorful Rare cards at the top of the ladder. Wholesale cases hold 32 boxes.

The theme is Nightmare Night, the pony world's answer to Halloween: favourite characters dressed in costume, pumpkins, bats and haunted-forest artwork throughout, and new cards to collect, trade and add to your decks.

What is new in Series 3

Nightmare Night is the pony world's Halloween, and the set is built around it rather than retelling episodes. Hasbro wrote six original four-stage Story lines for the cards, one per Mane Six: Twilight and the Royal Prank, Fluttershy and the Firefly Fright, Pinkie Pie and the Haunted Kitchen, Applejack and the Lost Moonlight Map, Rainbow Dash and the Phantom Night Race, and Rarity and the Carousel Haunted House. The Gold Rare tier adds Star Swirl the Bearded, Princess Luna, Nightmare Moon, Shining Armor and Princess Cadance alongside the Mane Six, and the Silver Rares bring in Discord, Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Zecora and Spike.

The set also introduces Treat tokens, the first new token type in the game. A Treat sits on a Character in your Adventure Area, does nothing by itself, and is what several Nightmare Night characters and events care about, with a limit of one Treat per Character. Event cards follow the theme, with Trick or Treat, Candy Tasting, Pumpkin Chucking, Spider Toss and Apple Bobbing among them, and the items include a Candy Bag, a Candy Bowl and a Love Potion. Treat tokens are already written into KAYOU's Comprehensive Rules version 1.3.0, so no rules update is needed to play the set.

How the MLP TCG works

This is KAYOU's genuinely playable My Little Pony line, not the Friendship Eternal collectible range. A deck is a 50-card Main Deck of Characters, Events and Items, a 15-card Scene Deck, four Story cards in stages one to four and one Main Character card. Scenes are tapped to pay Force of Harmony, the cost of playing cards, and Characters carry Inspiration, the number compared in a fight.

Turns run through four phases, Starting, Main, Contact and End. In the Contact Phase your three Adventure lanes face your rival's three: where both of you have a Character the higher Inspiration wins and the loser retires, and where only you do, you either promote your Main Character up the Story or intervene on your rival's Plans. You win by promoting your Main Character to the stage four Story card, or when your rival has to draw from an empty Main Deck. Games take roughly 20 to 30 minutes and the packaging rates the set ages 10 and up.

Series 3 as an expansion, not a starting point

Nightmare Night adds to an existing card pool. It is not a way into the game on its own, because a booster box contains no rules and no ready-to-play deck.

If nobody in the house plays yet, start with a Friendships Begin starter deck: 70 cards, pre-built, with the rules printed on the included playmat. Fantasy Wonderland, DISCORD!!! and this Series 3 box then all serve the same purpose of widening what you can build.

The English print reaches North American shops on 25 September 2026 and KAYOU's Australian distributor releases it here on 2 October 2026. This listing is a pre-order, so you are charged now and your box is dispatched by the date shown on this page, which allows time for stock to reach us and be sent on from NSW. If we miss that date you are entitled to a refund. Our pre-order stock is capped at the quantity we have committed to with our distributor.

The NA print, and buying it in Australia

This is the North American English print, MPN MLP-KP-MYZY-003B-NA, the edition KAYOU ships to Australia through its official distributor. Cards are coated card stock, manufactured in China.
