What Moon Edition is inside Friendship Eternal

KAYOU makes two very different kinds of My Little Pony cards, so it helps to know which one you are holding. Friendship Eternal is a collectible line, separate from the playable My Little Pony TCG that KAYOU sells as starter decks and booster sets. Friendship Eternal cards come with no rules, no decks and no gameplay. You open them, sort them, swap them and put the best ones in a binder.

Within Friendship Eternal, KAYOU runs four editions side by side: Moon, Rainbow, Fun Moments and Star. Each edition has its own series numbers, its own checklists and its own rarity ladder. KAYOU's US site sums Moon Edition up as "a dreamy foil-driven release", and it is the premium, foil-heavy end of the range. A SEA edition Moon box holds 10 foil packs, against 20 packs of five cards in the SEA Rainbow Edition box and 30 packs in the SEA Fun Moments 3 box, so you get fewer openings and more foil treatment per card.

Moon Edition also comes in two English editions. The NA edition is made for North America and the SEA edition for South-East Asia, and the two are packed differently and numbered differently, which is where most Moon Edition confusion starts. Moon Edition series by series

The table lists every Moon Edition box in both English editions and what KAYOU has published for each. "Not published" means the figure is not on KAYOU's US or South-East Asian websites.

Moon Edition 1 (SEA edition)

Moon Edition 1 is where the SEA Moon run begins. The box holds 10 foil packs, and KAYOU's South-East Asian sites list it with a box image but no spec sheet, so its cards per pack, checklist size and pull rates are not published.

KAYOU's promotional tier sheets for the box show SC, SGR, UR and LSR cards, with card codes that start INT01. The English edition also adds three horizontal UR cards of Twilight Sparkle, each marked on those sheets as exclusive to the English version, and the Chinese edition does not carry them. Moon Edition 2 (SEA edition)

Moon Edition 2 is a 10-pack SEA box that KAYOU lists the same way, with a box image and no spec sheet, so its checklist, tiers and pull rates are not published. We do not currently carry Moon Edition 2.

Moon Edition 3 (SEA edition)

Moon Edition 3 is the best-documented SEA Moon box, because KAYOU's South-East Asian sites carry its full spec sheet: item code MLP-KP-HY-003-SEA, released in August 2025, five cards a pack, 10 packs a box (50 cards) and 36 boxes a carton. The checklist runs to 189 card types across ten tiers. The sheet gives the tier codes and counts; the full names and theme names below come from KAYOU's US page for NA Moon Edition Series 2, which carries the same checklist.

The card art on the sheet fits those names: the ZR cards celebrate My Little Pony's 15th anniversary, and the UR cards put the characters on floats in a swimming pool. See the Moon Edition 3 SEA booster box.

Moon Edition 4 (SEA edition)

Moon Edition 4 is a 10-pack SEA box with the item code MLP-KP-YYYH-HY-004-SEA. KAYOU has not published a spec sheet, checklist or pull rates for it on any of its websites. We do not currently carry Moon Edition 4.

Moon Edition 5 (SEA edition)

Moon Edition 5 is the newest wave in the SEA Moon run: 10 foil packs a box, 36 boxes a carton, item code MLP-KP-YYYH-HY-005-SEA. KAYOU has not yet published its spec sheet, checklist or pull rates online, so our product page does not state a card count per pack until one is verified from physical stock. The NA edition: Series 1 to 3

KAYOU's US site lists three NA Moon Edition series, each with a spec sheet, a pack pattern and a card-by-card list:

• Series 1, released September 2025: 186 card types across eight tiers, topped by SC, with no ZR or ◇ZR tier. The standard box holds 24 packs of eight cards.
• Series 2, released October 2025: 189 card types across ten tiers, the same checklist as SEA Moon Edition 3. KAYOU's main listing is a 20-pack box of eight-card packs.
• Series 3, released March 2026: a much bigger checklist of 290 card types across ten tiers, topped by three ◇ZR cards. The standard box holds 24 packs of eight cards, and KAYOU notes one overseas-exclusive card in its UR tier.

KAYOU also lists other NA box sizes for these series, including 12-pack and 6-pack boxes and five-pack collector boxes, all with eight-card packs, so check the pack count on the box in front of you.

Why the series numbers do not line up

The two editions are numbered separately, so the same number can mean two different sets. The clearest case is on KAYOU's own pages. The SEA Moon Edition 3 sheet shows the same ten tiers and the same card counts as NA Moon Edition Series 2 on KAYOU's US site, and the card names we compared across the two match one for one. NA Moon Edition Series 3 is a different, 290-card set.

So if you open a SEA Moon Edition 3 box, check your cards against the NA Series 2 list, not the NA Series 3 one. Other numbering turns up too: some online listings sell the SEA Moon Edition 3 box as Luminous Moon Series 8. Treat any series number as a clue, and confirm the edition and item code before you buy or sort.

Rarity tiers and what KAYOU publishes on pull rates

Every Moon Edition card carries a tier code, and the order of those codes shifts from series to series. In SEA Moon Edition 3 the ladder runs, from the top: ◇ZR, SC, ZR, SGR, LSR, UR, SSR, SR, HR and R. NA Series 3 uses the same ten codes but ranks UR above LSR and HR above SSR, and NA Series 1 has only eight tiers, with SC at the top. The letters do not carry across editions either: SSR sits fourth from the bottom of the SEA Moon Edition 3 ladder, but in the middle of the nine tiers in Fun Moments 3. Compare a card only with the same tier in the same series and edition.

What KAYOU publishes for SEA Moon Edition 3. Every pack holds two R cards, one SR, one HR and one more card. In seven packs out of every 10, that last card is an SSR, UR or ZR. In the other three, it is an LSR, SGR, SC or ◇ZR. The sheet also prints a pull rate for every tier, which KAYOU's US pages do not do for any Moon series:

The right-hand column is our arithmetic from KAYOU's rates. It describes an average across many boxes, not a promise about any one box. At 36 boxes a carton, the single ◇ZR design works out to about one in every 18 cartons.

What KAYOU publishes for the NA edition. The US pages print pack patterns but no per-tier rates. In NA Series 3, every pack holds three R, two SR, one SSR and one HR, and the eighth card is an LSR in half the packs and a UR, SGR, ZR, SC or ◇ZR in the other half. In NA Series 2, ZR, SC and ◇ZR cards can only turn up in one pack out of every three. In NA Series 1, SGR and SC cards can only turn up in four packs out of every 24.

What KAYOU does not publish.

• Cards per pack, checklists or pull rates for SEA Moon Edition 1, 2, 4 or 5.
• Per-tier pull rates for any NA Moon series.
• The odds of pulling any one named card, in any edition.

So if you see Moon Edition odds quoted for a box other than SEA Moon Edition 3, treat them as someone's estimate, not KAYOU's number. Which Moon box to open first

Each Moon box suits a different kind of collector, so start from what you collect rather than from the box number.

• You want a checklist you can track. Moon Edition 3 is the one SEA Moon box with a published checklist and printed pull rates, so you know what you are chasing and how scarce each tier is. KAYOU's NA Series 2 card list gives you the names to tick off.
• You want the run from the start. Moon Edition 1 opens the SEA Moon run and carries the three horizontal Twilight Sparkle UR cards that only the English edition has.
• You are keeping up with the newest wave. Moon Edition 5 is the latest SEA box. KAYOU has not published its checklist yet, so it suits collectors who are happy to find out what is inside as they open.
• You collect NA Moon cards. Match edition to edition. Our Moon boxes are SEA edition, and the only match between the editions that KAYOU's pages confirm is SEA Moon Edition 3 and NA Series 2, so do not assume any other SEA box fills an NA checklist. Even that pair prints different card codes, which matters if you sort by code.
• You want fewer, heavier cards. Look at Star Edition 1, below.
• You want plenty of packs to open. A Moon box is not the best fit. Fun Moments 3 gives you far more cards per box, and our Fun Moments 3 guide sets out its 148-card checklist.

Moon Edition 2 and 4 are not on this list because we do not currently carry either. Whichever box you open, sleeve the top tiers as soon as they leave the pack and keep the rarest in rigid toploaders. Star Edition, the premium sibling

Star Edition is the premium sibling to Moon Edition, and it is still on its first series. Where a SEA Moon box gives you 10 packs, a Star Edition 1 box holds 16 packs of three cards, with the heaviest foil and lamination treatments in the Friendship Eternal range. KAYOU calls each three-card pack a mini box.

KAYOU's US page for the NA edition of Star Edition 1, released February 2026, sets out a checklist of 105 card types across eight tiers:

Its pack ratio puts a card from the OR, BP or ◇AR tiers in one pack out of every 16, which works out to one such pack a box. Five packs in 16 carry a USR or AR card, and the other 10 draw from the SCR, SSR and UR tiers.

The Star Edition 1 box we carry is the SEA edition, item code MLP-KP-YYYH-FX-001-SEA, with the same 16 packs of three cards and 24 boxes a carton. KAYOU's South-East Asian sites show a promotional video for it but no separate spec sheet, so treat the NA figures as the closest official reference rather than a confirmed SEA checklist. Card lists: where to check them

KAYOU publishes Moon and Star Edition card lists, but not for every box and not all in one place.

• KAYOU's US site has a card list for NA Moon Edition Series 1, 2 and 3 and for Star Edition 1. Each entry shows the card's image, name, tier and card number.
• KAYOU's South-East Asian sites carry one long sheet for SEA Moon Edition 3 that shows every card, grouped by tier.
• Nothing card by card is published for SEA Moon Edition 1, 2, 4 or 5, or for the SEA edition of Star Edition 1.

What the lists leave out: prices or values, the odds of pulling any one card, and most edition differences, apart from a note that one NA Series 3 UR card is an overseas exclusive.

The quickest way to match a card to the right list is the small code printed on its face. On KAYOU's own images, NA Moon Edition Series 2 cards carry codes that start MLPME02, SEA Moon Edition 3 cards carry codes that start INT03, and the Moon Edition 1 cards on KAYOU's promotional sheets carry codes that start INT01. A card coded INT03 belongs to the SEA Moon Edition 3 box, even though its name and tier line up with the NA Series 2 list.
