tokidoki x Hello Kitty Blind Boxes: Every Set, the Chasers, and What a Box Can Hold

tokidoki has drawn Hello Kitty since 2006 and the blind box sets now arrive several times a year. Here is how the sets fit together and what each box can hold.

You saw a photo of Hello Kitty in a pumpkin outfit with one long eyelash and the caption said "tokidoki x Hello Kitty". Then you went looking and found five different sets, a chaser, a special edition, something called a retailer exclusive, and a case that is nine boxes instead of eight.

This is the collab guide for that moment. It covers how long tokidoki and Sanrio have worked together, which tokidoki x Hello Kitty blind box sets exist right now, every figure in Pumpkin Spice, the three kinds of "rare" figure, and how these sit next to the Unicornos you may already own. Where a fact comes from tokidoki's own product pages we say so; where it comes from collectors, we say that too.

    Quick Answer

tokidoki has collaborated with Hello Kitty since 2006 and with the wider Sanrio cast since 2013. The current blind box sets are Fast Food, Butterfly Garden, Sweet Pink Carousel, Galactic Cats, and Pumpkin Spice, all 2025 to 2026 releases. Pumpkin Spice holds 10 designs, with Keroppi and Cheeky as the chaser at a printed 1 in 48, and packs 9 boxes to a case rather than the usual 8. The figures stand about 7 centimetres tall, the same as a standard Unicorno. In Australia, CottierTCG lists the sealed Pumpkin Spice blind box on the tokidoki figures page.

    The Collaboration Since 2006

tokidoki is the Los Angeles art brand founded in 2005 by Italian artist Simone Legno with Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Legno's own collaborations page dates the Hello Kitty partnership to 2006, one year after the brand launched, and lists Sanrio and Gudetama from 2013. That makes Hello Kitty tokidoki's longest-running licensed partner. If the brand itself is new to you, our what is tokidoki brand guide covers the founders, the name, and the character families.

The reason it works comes down to drawing style. Legno draws his female characters with a single eyelash and his male characters with none, and that one mark is enough to make a Sanrio character read as tokidoki without changing who the character is. Hello Kitty keeps her bow and My Melody keeps her hood; they just pick up the eyelash and the layered outfit detail tokidoki puts on its Unicornos. Sanrio has dozens of characters, each with its own fan base, so tokidoki can dress the cast in a new theme (a carousel, a diner, a pumpkin patch) every few months without repeating itself.

    The Blind Box Sets

On 13 September 2026 tokidoki.it listed five Hello Kitty and Friends blind box sets. Only Pumpkin Spice has a full official breakdown in our notes, so the table gives what we can source for each and marks the rest as collector-reported.

    SetWhat we can confirmSource
Fast FoodListed for sale on tokidoki.it; a diner themetokidoki.it listing; collectors mention it
Butterfly GardenListed for sale on tokidoki.ittokidoki.it listing; collectors mention it
Sweet Pink Carousel10 designs, 1 sold openly plus 9 blind; figures double as pieces of a spinning carousel; Usahana is the special editionpstoyreviews unboxing on YouTube; collector threads
Galactic CatsListed for sale on tokidoki.it; a space themetokidoki.it listing; collectors mention it
Pumpkin Spice10 designs, chaser Keroppi and Cheeky at 1 in 48, about 70 mm, case of 9tokidoki.it product page

Sweet Pink Carousel deserves its own paragraph because the gimmick is unusual. In pstoyreviews' full-set unboxing the figures are described as 10 designs, one non-blind and nine blind, and each figure sits on a carousel piece so the set assembles into a spinning carousel once you have them all. Collectors report the Usahana special edition sold out on tokidoki's site, resold at several times its price, and was restocked on 4 September 2026.

Pumpkin Spice is the newest of the five and the only one we currently list, so it gets the full treatment below.

    Pumpkin Spice Figure by Figure

tokidoki's product page for the set lists 10 designs in pumpkin-inspired outfits with seasonal treats, at about 2.7 inches (70 mm). Several figures are paired with a small companion, and the name on the insert includes both.

    9ChococatFrequently on trade wish lists
10Keroppi and CheekyThe chaser, printed ratio 1 in 48

The 1 in 48 ratio is the same one tokidoki prints on its standard Unicorno pages. Across a case of 9 that works out to one chaser in roughly every five cases on average, so a single case is not a reliable way to land Keroppi. Collectors on r/Tokidoki have posted chaser pulls from a single order and case openings with none; both are normal at that ratio.

Chaser Versus Special Edition Versus Retailer Exclusive

All three get called "the rare one" in haul videos. They are three different things, and Pumpkin Spice has a clean example of each.

The chaser is inside the blind boxes. It is one of the 10 designs, it ships mixed into the same sealed cases as everything else, and the only way to get it is to open boxes or trade for it. For Pumpkin Spice that is Keroppi and Cheeky at the printed 1 in 48. It is usually the figure that trades for the most.

A special edition is sold openly, not blind. It is a named figure in its own window box, so you know exactly what you are buying. tokidoki does this across its lines: the Magical Tides Electra and the After Dark Skeleton Caramelo are Unicorno examples, and for Pumpkin Spice collectors report a Cinnamoroll "on Autumn" special edition that was sold alongside the blind boxes. Sweet Pink Carousel's Usahana is the same idea. A special edition is not rarer by design; it just sells out when demand outruns the print run, which is what happened to Usahana.

A retailer exclusive is a special edition sold through one shop. Collectors who ordered Pumpkin Spice report a Barnes and Noble "Page Turner" exclusive special edition with a matching keychain and stickers. Barnes and Noble is a US bookshop chain, so that figure exists in the US retail channel and reaches Australia only through resale or trade. They are the figure most likely to be missing from an Australian collection.

The short version: chaser means random and inside the case, special edition means open and named, retailer exclusive means open, named, and tied to one store. Our blind box formats explained post covers the same distinction for the Unicorno lines, along with Twinsies, Lite, and plush.

Why Pumpkin Spice Is a Case of 9

tokidoki's Unicorno product pages say to order a quantity of 8 for a case pack, and collectors have come to expect that number. Pumpkin Spice broke the pattern. On the launch livestream tokidoki staff said a case is 9 boxes, while the product page at the time still read 8; one collector trusted the stream and ordered 9. The product page has since been updated and now says 9.

Nine makes sense when you look at the set. There are 10 designs and the chaser is a 1 in 48 pull, so a case of 9 can hold each of the nine common designs once. That is the most a case can do; tokidoki's policy, quoted by collectors from support emails, is that a case does not promise a full set or no duplicates. Our full case guide goes through what a case does and does not do, including the duplicate reports that have been the talk of the sub this month.

Sweet Pink Carousel, by contrast, is a case of 8 by the collector reading of tokidoki's site, which is why the "how do I get the full carousel without duplicates" threads exist: with nine blind designs and an 8-box case, one figure is always missing from a single case.

Collecting the Sanrio Characters Across Sets

Many people who buy a Hello Kitty and Friends set do not collect tokidoki; they collect a Sanrio character. A Unicorno collector wants the whole series. A Pompompurin fan wants Pompompurin from every set and will happily trade away the rest.

You can see this in the r/Tokidoki trade posts from September 2026. The "ISO" (in search of) posts for Pumpkin Spice named Pompompurin as the top want, Pochacco next, and Chococat close behind, with collectors offering Kiki, Lala, and other duplicates in exchange. If you open a case and pull doubles of Pompompurin, you are holding the set's most liquid figure.

Two practical notes for a character collector. If you want one Sanrio character, a few single boxes plus a trade post is usually a better route than a full case. And "Pompompurin and Seasons" or "Cinnamoroll and Study Buddy" are single figures with a small companion piece, not two figures, so check the insert before you assume a box is missing something.

For the older sets, collectors mention the tokidoki x Hello Kitty 50th anniversary set as one where the chaser is still hunted, with one collector planning a repaint of a common figure because the chaser was out of reach. That is a collector report, but it shows the pattern: the Sanrio chasers stay wanted long after the set leaves the shelves.

How the Figures Sit Next to Unicornos

The Pumpkin Spice figures are about 2.7 inches, or 70 mm, which is the same height tokidoki prints for its standard Unicorno lines including After Dark Masquerade, After Dark Skeleton, and Magical Tides. On a shelf they line up at the same eye level, and the pumpkin oranges and browns sit well against the After Dark blacks and purples.

They are not the same shape, though. Unicornos are four-legged and take more shelf depth than they look; the Sanrio figures are upright and compact, so a row of them fits in less space. The Unicorno Masquerade blind box is the closest sealed comparison we list for size and finish. Both are painted vinyl with the same gloss, so a Pumpkin Spice Hello Kitty next to a Stellina looks like the same artist drew both, because he did.

    What Reaches Australia

Almost every retailer named on r/Tokidoki for these sets is American: Hot Topic, Box Lunch, Barnes and Noble, Target, and Five Below, plus tokidoki's own site. None of that stock is on an Australian shelf, and the retailer exclusives in particular stay in the US channel.

What does reach Australia is the standard blind box through distributor stock. CottierTCG lists the tokidoki x Hello Kitty and Friends Pumpkin Spice blind box as a sealed single box, shipped from the Central Coast, NSW with Australia Post. The other four sets are context rather than products we carry, so for Sweet Pink Carousel or Galactic Cats you are looking at tokidoki's own site with international shipping or the resale market. Check the tokidoki figures page for what we currently list across Unicorno, Mermicorno, and the Sanrio collab.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many figures are in the tokidoki x Hello Kitty Pumpkin Spice set?

Ten designs: Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Study Buddy, Pochacco, Kiki, Lala, Pompompurin and Seasons, Chococat, and the chaser Keroppi and Cheeky at a printed 1 in 48. The figures are about 70 mm tall.

What is the difference between a chaser and a special edition?

The chaser is inside the blind boxes at a stated ratio, so you find it by opening boxes or trading. A special edition is a named figure sold openly in its own box, not blind, so you know what you are buying. Some US retailers also carry an exclusive special edition sold only through that store.

Is a Pumpkin Spice case 8 or 9 boxes?

Nine. Most tokidoki blind box series pack 8 to a case and the product page briefly said 8 at launch, but the livestream said 9 and the official page now says 9. A case of 9 can hold each common design once, though tokidoki does not promise a full set.

Are the Hello Kitty figures the same size as Unicornos?

Yes, about 7 centimetres, which is the height tokidoki prints for its standard Unicorno lines. They display alongside a Unicorno shelf at the same eye line. The Sanrio figures are more upright and take less depth than a four-legged Unicorno.

Which tokidoki x Hello Kitty sets exist?

Five sets were on tokidoki's site in September 2026: Fast Food, Butterfly Garden, Sweet Pink Carousel, Galactic Cats, and Pumpkin Spice. Sweet Pink Carousel assembles into a spinning carousel and Pumpkin Spice is the newest. Collectors also mention an older Hello Kitty 50th anniversary set with a sought-after chaser.
